Featured in this lot is a Navajo Crystal Eye Dazzler Trading Post rug, circa 1940s. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction with the iconic Crystal Trading Post design with an eye dazzler twist with coloration of off white field with black patterns and a central diamond of heathered grey and off yellow with bands of black and yellow at the ends. The regional pattern Crystal starts in the mid 1930s. The pattern is borderless with horizontal bands of geometric designs. The bands are separated by “wavy lines”. This is created by alternating and crossing the color of each weft. The colors are of natural wool with vegetal dyed colors. The contemporary Crystals are drastically different from the old J.B. MOORE crystals, which made the area famous in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The condition of this Navajo rug is well preserved for its age with some wear and fading but shows all four tassels present and is well preserved. The measurements of this rug are 59" x 29". The thread count of this rug is 112 threads per square inch.*
