Featured in this lot is this Navajo female Yei Be Chei "Corn People" rug. This is a wonderful example of Navajo Yei or Yei Be Chei (Holy People) rug showing two female figures holding up wands and tending a multiple corn stock centered on this rug with a black and red dazzler border with a grey field with great attention to detail given to the figures themselves. The Yeibichai weavings are highly individual, therefore, different elements may be found in them. Male Yeis have round heads and Female Yeis have square heads. Other elements included may be: gourds, ruffs of spruce around the neck, fox pelts, moccasins, woven garters or sashes, arrows, corn, clouds, stars, and more. The condition of this rug is good with no obvious signs of damage and in good overall condition. The measurements of this rug are 48 1/4" x 32"
