Presented in this lot is a Navajo Indian hand-carved tortoise shell coloured heishi bead and imitation bone fetish necklace. The central fetish figure is a standing bear, a design seen in Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni jewelry. Twelve additional bone bear fetishes proceed upwards on the necklace in descending order of size; small turqouise cabochons interspersed between the bear fetishes and the tortoise shell, an "S" hook clasp. This is a beautiful piece, the tortoise shell has a bright, polished appearance, some of the smaller fetishes paint has faded but the central fetish paint is still pronounced. There is a slight patina on the fetishes, no marring noted, in overall good condition. Measures 30"L
