Featured in this lot is this Navajo Ganado Hubbell Trading Post rug circa 1930's. This rug features a beautifully woven construction with a tight weave and a off white field with a central display of stepped crosses with red motifs in between them, the border shows a dark brown with geometric patterns with red boxes throughout. When many people think of a Navajo rug, they picture a Ganado rug. The popularity of the Ganado Navajo rug is due in part to Juan Lorenzo Hubbell, an important early trader who owned several trading posts on the Navajo reservation and a warehouse in the Arizona railroad town of Winslow. The condition of this rug is good with no obvious signs of damage and in good overall condition. The measurements of this rug are 86 1/2" x 55".
