This is a fantastic finely woven rug from master Navajo weaver Marie Denny with a wonderful Ganado pattern dating to circa 1980-1990’s with a gallery tag. The rug is accompanied with an original Toh-Atin Indian Arts and Crafts Durango, Colorado tag marked with Marie Denny, Ganado, 32 x 48, and price of $2,400 (also shown is a Kodak photograph of the rug presumably dated 1994 (2x) and a polaroid of Marie Denny and Bill Malone holding the rug up in an old Trading Post, taken at Perry Null Trading Post originally opened by Tobe Turpen Sr. in 1939). This example shows a rich and iconic Ganado Red central color with border of black and grey with supporting pattern in black, multiple greys and white / cream. The piece is in incredible well-preserved condition with little to no loss to the weave, bright rich coloring, no visible bleeding, and soft wool with a tight weave. The rug has an amazing tightly woven knot count of approximately 325 knots per square inch (25x13). Provenance: The piece has been in a phenomenal Navajo weavings collection since the 1990’s in Billings, Montana and shown at the Toh-Atin gallery (since 1957). Measures overall 32” by 48.5” without the tassels and 42” by 57.5” with them.
