Featured in this lot is this Navajo Ganado Wool Salesman Sample rug circa 1960's. Juan Lorenzo Hubbell, prominent trader in Ganado and founder of Hubbell Trading Post in 1878, influenced the style and design of the rugs. Hubbell operated over 20 Trading Posts at one time across the Central Navajo Nation. Ganado rugs are sometimes called Hubbell Revival rugs because they are inspired by earlier Navajo blankets. Among the most popular of all Navajo rug designs is the Ganado. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that shows a greyish-brown border with a stepped decoration and a off white background with grey stepped geometric designs surrounding a centre stepped black medallion. The condition of this Navajo rug is good with a very well preserved nature with two small areas of staining noted on a side border. No other areas of marring observed. Measures 11.75"W x 12.25".
