Featured in this lot is this sterling silver long lariat and spiny oyster necklace from Navajo artist Gilbert Tom. The necklace features nine total oval cut and pear cut cabochons of spiny oyster with orange clarity and beautiful coloration; each is set in a sterling silver twisted rope border with eight total pendants showing professionally constructed decorations. Navajo artist Gilbert Tom trained under the guidance of the late, legendary master silversmith, Harry Morgan, who helped the best Gallup area artists revive the old style Navajo jewelry. The artist's signature can be seen on the backside of the dangle pendant in the center of the neckalce. The condition of this necklace is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurement from clasp to clasp is 23 3/4" and the dangle pendant measures 4 5/8" x 1 3/8" x 1/4". The collective weight of this necklace is 144g. Retail price for this piece was over $3,000.
