Included in this lot is a small Navajo Native American Chinle pattern wool rug. Chinle rugs are known for their striped bands of geometric patterns and contrasting colors. These new regional styles were all inspired by Navajo Transitional Period designs, which typically featured striped motifs and vegetal dyes. This piece shows colors of red, grey, orange, cream, green, and black. The border of this rug is red with stripes of orange, grey, black, and green throughout the rug. Within three of the stripes are diagonal stripes. This piece is in good condition, showing some tears to the weaving. The rug measures 30 1/2" by 20".
