Offered in this lot is a very fine Navajo Signed Old Pawn Silver, Turquoise, Heishi and Catlinite necklace. This necklace has been contemporarily re-strung on fine wire. The necklace is made of an assortment of silver beads, polished Heishi shells, Turquoise disks and nuggets, Catlinite, and White Heart tube beads. Both ends of the necklace starts with twisted silver links and has stamped barrel tubes, one of which bears the maker’s mark of MP (Mike Platero). Mike Platero is a Navajo jewelry artist (1965 – present). Mike is the husband of Evelyn Platero, who is from Zuni Pueblo. Mike and Evelyn collaborate together on their works. The center part of the necklace is an assortment of thick Catlinite disks, thin Heshi Shell disks, Turquoise disks and nuggets, Silver Bench beads, Silver tube beads, and two White Heart tube beads. The center of the necklace is a stamped silver barrel. The barrel measures just less than 1" X 1". The beaded part of the necklace is 21 1/2" of the 39" total length. This necklace is in very good condition.
