For your consideration is a rare, original Navajo casein painting by Robert Chee (1937-1971). This piece is titled "Navajo Man Tanning a Hide" showing vivid, and soft colors, consistent with the artist's known style. It shows a Navajo man working on a tanning hide leaned up against a tree, while a fire burns and a vat is boiling. Robert Chee was Diné painter. He had a short but very active career. He is noted for two-dimensional strongly decorative work with bright colors. He adhered to all the characteristics of traditional Navajo painting. This piece shows an artist signature "R. Chee" in the lower right corner and a collectors label on the reverse of the frame indicating details of the painiting. The visible art measures approximately 7x9" and the frame measures 14x16"
