The lot features outstanding silversmith work by master Navajo Native American Indian, Randy Begay Jr., with gorgeous Cerrillos turquoise cabochon set on an original Montana Territory Knives Damascus blade. The knife shows two scales of sterling silver with repoussé highly figured stamping, Old Pawn stylings, and a single large, polished cabochon of turquoise set on one side. The turquoise stone is from the Cerrillos turquoise mine in between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico, one of the most famous prehistoric mining districts in the American Southwest. The silver is set onto an original forged Damascus blade from Montana Territory Knives of Bozeman, Montana. The blade bears the “MT (surrounded by an outline of Montana) BOZEMAN MT” forged stamp on the left side of the blade. The silver is stamped on the right side of the handle with Randy Begay Jr.’s signature hallmark “RBJR Sterling.” The blade is paired with an original, thick, genuine leather Montana Territory Knives Bozeman, MT sheath, which has been hand tooled/stamped and bears the hallmark. The piece is handmade and has small imperfections that come with any handmade piece, along with some grip scale spacing. These knives are from a limited set and are the only true forged Damascus knives with exceptional Navajo silversmithing from Randy Begay Jr. on the market. The knife itself measures 9 1/2" long with the blade being 5" long. The knife and sheath together measures 10" long. The blade is of high quality, but the knife is more for display and does not have a warranty as it is art.
