For your consideration is this Navajo Diné Richard Singer Sterling Silver Buffalo Head Pendant. Richard Singer, son of the late world renowned Navajo Silversmith Thomas Singer, is a 3rd generation Navajo artist, now one of the Ta’neez zahnii (tangle) Clan, born for the Kinyaa’a’anii (Tower House) Clan. He is from Standing Horse Mesa, Dileon, Arizona. Richard’s grandfather, Tsinnigine Hathali, was a Navajo Medicine Man and silversmith. Richard keeps with his father’s artistic legacy of depicting Navajo people’s spiritual symbols and love of life. Through his designs Richard expresses their love for the land, water, sky, and animals, which are a part of their way of life. Some of his pieces integrate the most traditional of Navajo design, the storyteller and the Navajo rug, designs that have endured for decades. The pendant features a wonderfully and professionally crafted sterling silver construction that shows a buffalo head that is tooled and stamped to the face of the buffalo. Immediately below is a landscape scene of a buffalo and calf with a mountain range and the sun in the background. A piece of polished Sleeping Beauty turquoise and a silver bead are set in the bottom left hand corner of the pendant. The reverse of the pendant features the artist's hallmark, "R. Singer" with a feather and ".925". The condition of this Navajo pendant is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The pendant measures 2.5"W x 4.25"L x .75"D, combined weight is 40.8 gm.
