For your consideration is a Navajo Native American chip-inlay, sterling silver heart and cross necklace by S. Dixon. The chip inlay technique became popular due to Tommy Singer, a renowned Navajo silversmith. The pendant on this piece showcases chip inlaid branch coral, and turquoise. The pendant is in the shape of a heart and features turquoise chip inlaid swirls framing a Latin cross inlaided with branch coral in incredible detail. The back of the heart is stamped with the artist’s hallmark for S. Dixion. Chip inlay design has grown in popularity since the mid 1900’s. Musicians like Johnny Cash have worn this style. The necklace is a twisted rope with claw clasp and measures 20” when unclasped and the pendant measures 1 1/2” x 1 3/8". The total weight of chain and pendent is 19.5 grams. This necklace and pendent are in good condition.
