For your consideration in this lot are two Navajo Native American split band bracelets. The first is a silver bracelet marked with the artists KS (Kirk Smith). Kirk Smith was a Native American of the Dine tribe. In the 1960s, at age seven, he helped his grandfather John Smith work with primitive tools on silver at his bench in his small work shop. By 1980 he was able to earn his living full time from silver smithing. During this time he was mentored by famed silver smith and brother in law, Harry Morgan. Kirk specialized in traditional Navajo jewelry set with high grade stones. Tragically, he died September 17, 2012 in a automobile accident at age 55. The bracelet has a large 3/4" cabochon of Ox Blood Coral. The stone is held firmly and is topped with a double squash blossom and a silver dot. the band is made of two pieces of silver that split to make an open frame around the setting. The bracelet measures 5 3/4" inside and has a 1" gap and is 1 1/4" at its wide point. The second bracelet is made of brass. It is a split band made of two pieces that comes together at the ends. The bracelet has a center piece of two stones, one turquoise and one red coral. The stones are framed with twisted rope and two leaves in a classical design. The bracelet measures 5" on the inside with a 1" gap and is 1" at its widest point. these bracelets are in good condition.
