Featured in this lot is this Navajo Teec Nos Pos Trading Post circa 1900-1920's. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that shows a traditional Teec Nos Pos decoration with geometric patterns woven into the field and shows a dark brown border with some stepped design. The coloration of the geometric includes red and off white colors with off white whirling log decoration to either side of the rug. The Teec Nos Pos Navajo rugs show a substantial influence from designs of Oriental origin. These bold, exciting and elaborate rugs are always surrounded by a wide border or borders of different Oriental motifs. The elaborate centers are of stylized feathers and arrows, steps and angular hooks extended from points of diamonds and triangles. Many different brightly colored yarns are used in these weavings. The condition of this well preserved with some wear tot he outside weave of the border but otherwise shows no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this Navajo rug is 63 1/2" x 48". The threads count is 104 threads per square inch.
