Featured in this lot is this Navajo Diné Tommy and Rose Singer Sterling Silver Elk Buckle. The buckle features a wonderfully and professionally crafted sterling silver construction that shows a tooled and carved design of two elk on a hill side at nighttime with the moon and clouds out. The buckle is marked on the back as follows: T & R Singer - Sterling. Singer (1940–2014) was a master silversmith and one of the most famous Navajo jewelry artists. Singer is thought to be one of the most important and greatest contemporary silversmith Indian artist and his work is highly sought after. He is widely credited with pioneering the use of chip inlay, a technique where crushed turquoise or coral is inlaid into silver or gold settings, creating a striking mosaic effect. Rose Singer, his wife, was also deeply involved in the creation and promotion of their jewelry. After his death, his wife, Rose, continued to create jewelry using designs Singer created prior to his passing. The condition of this Navajo buckle is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this buckle is 1.875"W x 3", weight is 35.7 grams.
