Offered in this lot is a turquoise nugget and sterling silver Thunder Bird necklace attributed to the Navajo Indians. The turquoise nuggets are on a double strand with small silver beads between the nuggets and at the clasp. There are forty-seven nuggets of what are believed to be turquoise colored Howlite or White Buffalo Turquoise. The Thunderbird pendent is on a large bail. The pendent is highly stamped and has a turquoise color cabochon set in the center. Thunderbird, in North American Indian culture, is a powerful spirit in the form of a bird. Thunderbird watered the earth and plants grew. Lightning flash from its beak and the beating of its wings was the rolling of thunder. The necklace is 20" long and the pendent measures 3 1/4" x 2 1/4".
