Featured in this lot is this Vintage Navajo Diné Wilbert Meyers Sterling Silver Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Red Coral Belt Buckle, circa 1960s. The buckle features a wonderfully and professionally crafted stamped sterling silver featuring traditional Navajo motifs of sun rays, intricate feathers, and teepees with scrolled sterling silver, silver beads and a centre sawtooth bevel mounted petit point Sleeping Beauty cabochons and a centre mounted petit point red coral cabochon. Buckle has scalloped designed sides. Navajo stamp meanings involve powerful cultural symbols often depicted in geometric patterns. they're deeply rooted in their worldview, connecting the wearer to their heritage, spiritual beliefs, and the natural landscape, often reflecting stories and prayers. The buckle is marked 'WM' for Wilbert Meyers and ' Sterling' on the backside of the buckle. The condition of this Navajo buckle is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. Measures 2"W x 3.25"L, collective weight is 41.5gms.
