This lot features an outstanding work of art authentic #8 Turquoise inlaid handmade Damascus knife by Navajo Native American master silversmith, Wilson Dawes. The piece shows a large drop point wide camp hunting blade with amazing forged Damascus blade showing a fine random raindrop pattern. The handle shows a nice finger well with amazing sterling silver bolster linings having a phenomenal high-grade turquoise from the famed Number 8 Turquoise Mine of Eureka County, Nevada. Number Eight, also referred to as Number 8 or #8, mine was first discovered in 1925 and first mined in 1929. It is considered the most collectible, rare and high-quality turquoise by many in the world. All the turquoise on this knife has been confirmed to be authentic Number 8 Turquoise. The piece is from silversmith and artist, Wilson Dawes of the Navajo people. The turquoise is inlaid with silver linings in a unique zig-zag chevron mosaic design, a truly wonderful work of art. The knife measures overall 9 1/8”L with a 4.75”L by 1 5/8”W blade. The piece still has the original tag on the blade.
