Featured in this lot are three Nehi / Royal Crown Beverages glass bottles from Billings, Montana circa 1930-60s. Nehi is a flavored soft drink that was first introduced in 1924 by the Chero-Cola/Union Bottle Works. The name "Nehi" is meant to remind customers that the soda comes in tall bottles that are "knee-high". The soda was created by Claud A. Hatcher, a grocer from Columbus, Georgia. The company changed its name to the Nehi Corporation in 1928. In 1955, the company changed its name to Royal Crown Company, after the success of its RC Cola brand. The first two in this lot are identical and show an Art Deco style embossed pattern on the glass and reads, "Nehi Beverages / 9 Fluid Ounces / Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. / Minimum Contents / Nehi Bottling Co. Billings, Montana". The second bottle was made after the re-naming of the company and shows a red and yellow colored paper cover reading, "RC / Royal Crown Cola / Copyright Nehi Corp.". The back of the bottle reads, "Bottle Sterilized Before Filling / Contents 10 Flu. Ozs / Property of Nehi Bottling Co. Billings, Montana" in yellow lettering. All three bottles show good condition overall with some slight wear present from their age and use over the years, but no signs of obvious damage is present. The glass shows slight cloudiness. No cracks or chips present. The bottles measure 9 1/4" to9 1/2" in length and have a bottom diameter of 2 1/4" to 2 3/8". The three bottles have a collective weight of 2 pounds and 14 ounces.
