French Neoclassical style is often characterized as being ornate yet restrained, featuring delicate carvings, tapered legs, and classical motifs such as laurel wreaths and acanthus leaves. It emerged as a reaction to the frivolity and excessive ornament of the baroque and rococo styles. bold, straight (rectilinear) lines of the movement as pure, geometric shape and form replaced the sinuous (serpentine) curves of the Rococo period. This Jardinière / urn / planter is wonderfully and professionally crafted, in good overall structural condition, rich patina exhibited throughout, oxidation observed.
