For your consideration is this New Amsterdam Casualty Company brass sign. New Amsterdam Casualty Co. was an insurance company incorporated in 1898 in Baltimore Maryland. The company was known for providing automobile insurance as well as being the first American insurance company to specialize in lawyers' professional liability insurance. The company aggressively marketed a Lawyer's Protective Policy nationwide. In 1966 New Amsterdam Casualty Company merged into Security Insurance Company of Hartford. The brass sign measures 24" x12" and reads "New Amsterdam Casualty Company / Surety/ Casualty" in black calligraphy font framed in a classic Greek border. The sign is in good condition, with scratches and blemishes commiserate with age. It also has 3 nail holes (not through any lettering).
