Tyler Henry in 1860, was a revolutionary repeating rifle that paved the way for the famous Winchester rifles, the immediate precursor to the Winchester Model 1866. It was the first practical lever-action, repeating rifle, capable of firing 16 shots before reloading, a significant advantage over the muzzle-loaded rifles of the time. The Henry rifle played a significant role in the American Civil War, particularly for Union troops who purchased them privately. The Henry rifle's influence extended into the American West, where it became a symbol of frontier life and self-sufficiency.
