Featured in this lot we have a New Mexico oryx gazelle horn taxidermy wall mount. The gazelle was taken in White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The oryx was introduced in the 1950's and 60's as a initiative to introduce native African animals to New Mexico as big game opportunities. The oryx soon spread far beyond intended numbers and became a problematic invasive species. The wall mount shows a pair of long orxy horns set into wooden wall mount. The base of the horns is set into a light leather cover. The piece shows good condition overall. The horns measures 35 1/4" long with the wall plaque measuring 16" tall by 14 1/4" wide and 23" deep.
