This is an outstanding scarce original photograph of Susie Looking Glass and Christine Thompson Kywayputs two Nez Perce Native American Indian women taken by Burns Photo Co. The piece dates to circa 1890-1910 and is by Burns Photo Co. out of Lewiston, Idaho. The photograph has been professionally framed and the previous owner took a photocopy of the back of the card which reads, “Susie Looking Glass During Winter Looking Glass Killed in Nez Perce War & Christine Kywaputs Burns Photo Co. Lewiston, Id on cabinet card” and was framed by Frontier Frames of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. This photo measures 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" with the frame measuring 11" x 13."
