Featured in this lot are North & Judd and Kerry Kelley Spurs. Since 1863, North & Judd became prominent in the manufacture of saddlery and harness hardware including bits and spurs. This business led to a close and friendly relationship with William F. (Buffalo Bill) Cody who would write letters to the company commending the quality of their spurs. This spur feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted bronze construction that features a leaf and vine decoration to the outside of the frame and shows aged leather spur straps. The spur is marked with the North & Judd anchor makers mark above the spur strap lug, a 10-point rowel and chap guard. Kerry Kelley is recognized as one of the top bit and spur makers in the United States, and is used by the top trainers in the horse industry. A specific, unique characteristic is the fact that each and every one of his pieces is made in Kelley’s shop in TX. This spur features a stamped silver and copper hallmark concho, a stamped silver button, 16-point rowel with jingles, and stamped leather. These two spurs are in nice condition, no damage observed.
