Featured in this lot is this North and Judd Star Steel Silver half dollar rowel spurs circa 1940's. The spurs feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted Star Steel Silver construction with the mark under the spur strap button and is marked with the "Anchor" typical for North & Judd spurs underneath the rowel seat neck. The rowel has been replaced by 2 half dollars kept in place by screws. Since 1863, North & Judd became prominent in the manufacture of saddlery and harness hardware including bits and spurs. This business led to a close and friendly relationship with William F. (Buffalo Bill) Cody who would write letters to the company commending the quality of their spurs. The condition of this pair of spurs is well preserved with the rowels replaced with Liberty Half Dollars and the spur straps are amateur custom made spur straps with a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this pair of spurs is 2 1/4" x 5" x 8 1/8". The collective weight of this pair of spurs is 1lb 2oz.
