Featured in this lot are four new-old stock brass company tags from Haynes Equipment Corporation & the Northern Pacific Railway circa early 1900s. There are two identical Northern Pacific Railway tags and two identical Haynes Equipment Corporation tags. The two Northern Pacific Railway tags show the Northern Pacific logo on the right and left next to two mounting holes. The North Coast Limited was a named passenger train operated by the Northern Pacific Railway between Chicago and Seattle via Bismarck, North Dakota. It started on April 29, 1900, and continued as a Burlington Northern Railroad train after the merger on March 2, 1970 with Great Northern Railway. The second set of tags read, "Haynes Equipment Corporation / Rapid Photographic Apparatus / 341-5 Selby Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota". F. Jay Haynes (1853-1921) was a prolific photographer who traveled extensively in the West and was best known for his early photographs of Yellowstone National Park. He was also the official photographer for the Northern Pacific Railroad, and for a time operated a special railroad car equipped as a mobile photography studio, which he called "Haynes Palace Studio." The tags in this lot show good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of obvious damage noted. The Northern Pacific Railway tags measure 1" L x 5" W, while the Haynes tags measure 3/4" L x 2 1/2" W. They have a collective weight of under 6 ounces.
