The lot features a beaded hide tomahawk war club drop constructed of braided harness leather and carved bone accoutrements and an amulet. The piece is attributed to the Northern Plains Native American Indians of the early- to mid-1900’s. The piece shows an Indian tanned hide triangular oblong section with a bifurcated split tongue end that is covered in petit and seed trade glass beads in a geometric pattern; the beads display colors of greasy yellow, faceted polished iridescent metal beads, chalk white, and a semi-translucent green. The beadwork is sewn with sinew, a true early beadwork attribute. The hide is held onto a braided harness saddle leather strand with a carved bone button and the piece contains three carved amulet bone beads. One side of the largest amulet bead shows a three-leaf clover and a worn down figure on the other side, which is unidentified. The piece is in good overall condition, with some slight bead loss as shown. Measures 13”L by 1 3/8”W.
