This is a very unusual beaded, bone carved whistle and medicine bundle from the Northern Plains Native American Indians. The piece appears to be of an early, turn of the century age. The piece boasts a braided trade cloth necklace strand, a carved bone whistle adorned with petit seed beaded design, fringe, and an Indian tanned hide umbilical cord fetish or medicine bundle, which is also decorated with beadwork and a red ocher mineral pigment dyed coloring. The entire piece is very unusual and scarce. The back of the bone is marked with a museum collection number. The piece has a nice patina and good beadwork in colors of greasy yellow, cobalt, and greasy green. Overall, it measures 19.5”L.
