The lot features a solid brass pipe tomahawk war club head with hard wood haft being adorned with black and green ocher mineral pigment paint and attributed to being from the Northern Plains Native American Indians. The piece shows a solid brass head with pipe bowl having a nice even patina from age and use. The haft appears to be an oak construction with a dark green and banded black ocher mineral pigment dye along with various file branding and two bands of brass covered iron tacks The head appears to have an older early age casting with the haft's age possibly being a later addition. The tip of the haft shows a copper wrap with copper smoking tip and the eye hole is closed off with a copper studded plate. The tomahawk measures 23 3/8" long, and 9" wide across the head. The piece was previously listed and sold by Milestone Auctions of Ohio for over $1,200 in 2017. The current collector / owner finds the piece to have a significant age. Please review the pictures for condition, origin, age and originality. Previously was listed with a later addition of a beaded drop, which has since been removed to display in its more original form.
