Featured in this lot is this Northern Plains Indians ceremonial dance wand pair. There are two dancing wands in this collection. The first is a ceremonial bow dancing wand constructed from a rib and features three long bone tube beads with larger trade beads in colors of yellow, dark red, light blue, and white; this piece also features dark painted turkey feathers on the top side of the bow. The second item is an ochre painted wooden limb wrapped in ochre painted Parfleche hide, sinew sewn wrapping with trade seed bead decoration with larger trade beads above them, three dark painted turkey feathers, and a strand of horse hair; the top of the wand features a pelvic bone of a smaller animal, painted with natural ochre dyes. The condition of these ceremonial dancing wands is good, with no obvious signs of damage; there is some patina adorning the bone and the Parfleche hide. The measurements of these wands are 19" x 7/8" x 5 1/4" and 14 7/8" x 5" x 2 1/2" for the pelvic wand.
