Featured in this lot is this Northern Plains Indians elk rawhide drum and beater. This is a wooden hoop wrapped elk rawhide drum attributed to a Northern Plains tribe, with sinew string attaching the wetted and stretched elk hide. The beater shows a softwood core with a stuffed hide head and is attached by a sinew wrap. The condition of this drum is fair with some contemporary repairs to the sinew strings underneath the drum and to the beater itself; this is a contemporary drum and beater. The measurements of this drum are 12 1/2" x 12" x 3" and the beater measures 15 1/2" x 1".
