For your consideration is this beautiful Northern Plains Native American carved wood sculpture attributed to Dave Powell circa late 1900s. Dave Powell is the son of Western artists, Ace Powell and Nancy McLaughlin. He has become an accomplished artist in his own right with works of art in sculpture, oil painting, watercolor and more. The sculpture shows a Native American man set on a large tree stump base. The man is adorned in a red trade blanket and has a beaded bag hung on his left arm, and is holding a rifle in his rifle cover. His pants feature raw hide strips and his moccasins are beaded in a geometric style with colors of yellow, blue, brown and red. A fur pelt sits on the mans back that was made into a small bag. He is wearing a necklace, a rawhide shirt and has feathers stuck in his hair as he looks towards the viewer. The sculpture shows great attention to detail and shows good condition overall with little wear present on the sculpture. No signs of obvious damage or wear is noted. No makers mark is noted. The sculpture measures 37" L x 11 1/8" L x 11 1/4" W and weighs 5 pounds and 10 ounces.
