The lot features a Northern Plains beaded sheath and forged large bowie knife with Buffalo bone handle. The sheath appears to be of an older age and shows an Indian tanned Buffalo Bison hide with slight parfleche stiffness covered in glass trade seed beads showing a geometric design. The sheath has some bead loss an shows colors of greasy yellow, medium green, chalk white, red and medium blue. The knife shows a large wide bowie knife blade which is blacksmith hand-forged showing a hammerred finish on both sides. The knife has a brass hilt guard with hidden tang and a Great American Bison Buffalo bone handle with copper rivet and rawhide strap wrapped around. The bone shows a dark nice yellow patina and a crazing that shows age. Unique and attractive setup. The sheath itself measures 10"L by 3 3/8"W. The knife is 15.25"L with the blade being 9.5"L by 2 7/8"W.
