The lot features an antique Belgium Joseph Manton double barrel side by side shotgun that was shortened for use as a Stagecoach Gun or Protection gun, collected in Montana. The shotgun appears to be chambered in 12-guage and was manufactured by Joseph Manton of Belgium in the 19th-century and traded into America and eventually the American West Frontier. The shotgun displays a 15 1/4" long side by side barrels, hardwood half stock, side release level, double triggers, and dual hammers. The barrels are marked across the underside with numerous proof marks and factory stamps. The butt plate displays an embossed landscape scene showing a pair of water fowl in wetlands. The barrels have been welded close with both barrels fully blocked. The lockplate is marked on each side reading J Manton & Co". The piece shows worn condition with a warn patina, missing the front stock, and showing wear and damage due to age and handling with the gun inoperable overall. The piece weighs 6lbs 8oz. Serial Number: 28610. This firearm qualifies as a Non Operational Firearm, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
