Featured in this lot is this First Edition of "On The Trail In Yellowstone" by Wallace Smith, 1924, G. P. Putnam's Sons New York & London publisher. Illustrations throughout by the author, "A happy little book about a packhorse trip in the Yellowstone country, with many sketches by the author. It will delight everyone who has ever caught a fish or tramped the trails that lead away from civilization into the mountains." "Camping off the trail in Yellowstone has one major drawback. It spoils you forever for camping in any other country." - p.91. Wallace Smith (1888-1937) was an American book illustrator, comic artist, reporter, author, and screenwriter. He was the author of the illustration for the Pendleton Round-Up Association. Many decades later, the picture still symbolizes at a glance the essence of rodeo competition. The tan cloth bound hardcover is in good overall condition, slight scuffing to cover edges. Intact pages feature "Antiquarian Society Worcester, MA" stamp on title page. Intact deckled pages exhibit age tanning. Measures 5"W x 7.5"L x .5"D, weight is 8oz.
