For your consideration, this lot includes a hand carved alabaster sculpture, untitled. The sculpture is signed on the bottom of the back and appears to be the hallmark of Oreland C. Joe. A master sculptor, Oreland is world renowned for his work in stone and bronze, and is primarily known for his work with marble, alabaster and limestone. His accomplishments are numerous with one being the first Native American to be admitted to the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America in 1993. His works can be found in private, corporate and museum collections in the United States and abroad. Oreland is of Diné (Navajo) and Ute descent. The pale brown, reddish veined sculpture is in good overall condition with no marring noted. It measures12.25"H, 3" x 3" at the base.
