Featured in this lot is this original 1960's Cold War era fallout shelter sign. Beginning in the late 1940's, the U.S. and Russia engaged in a tense standoff where each country took a firm stand on beliefs and ideology. Eventually, nuclear weapons came into play, causing further strain on relations. The U.S. implemented many programs to educate and ready the public in the event of a nuclear attack inside the United States. Signs such as this one were used to direct citizens to a nuclear fallout shelter. The sign was produced by the Department of Defense and is marked as such. The condition of this sign is well preserved with minor wear to the face but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this sign is 20" x 14". The collective weight of this sign is U4oz.
