For bidding in this lot is one of the earliest pieces of breweriana advertising, in the form of an original 1896 chromolithograph of Custer's Last Fight, commissioned by Anhueser-Busch. The piece was originally painted by Cassilly Adams in 1884, and prepared for chromolithograph by F. Otto Becker, and subsequently used as advertising by AB. The print reads across the bottom "Entered According to Act of Congress by Adolphus Busch, March 30th 1896 In the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington, D.C.", and "Custer's Last Fight. - The Original Painting has been Presented to the Seventh Regiment U.S. Cavalry - By Anheuser-Busch. St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. - World Largest Brewery - Home of Budweiser and other Anhueser-Busch Fine Beers". Additionally, the bottom edge of the print is labeled with many prominent Native American Indian warriors, and Military leaders. The print shows an animated scene of the Battle of the Little Bighorn where General George Armstrong Custer and his men were killed by Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians on June 26, 1876. The piece shows the army being overtaken by the Indians with Custer in the center, a sword raised above his head and his pistol in hand. The print is in good overall condition. Overall, the early print shows good original condition, and is believed to be housed in its original frame. The frame itself measures 46 1/2" x 36".
