Included in this lot we have a original G.C. Wentworth sculpture titled "Fighting Horses" circa 1973. Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows the image of two horses fighting, one leaping forward and the other on its haunches. The sculpture is signed on the bottom right side. The piece shows fair condition overall with a few cracks and chips. The sculpture measures 17 1/8" long by 6 1/4" wide and approximately 9 1/4" tall. The sculpture comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which grants the right of the new owner to have it cast if they so choose. Also, a printed biography of the artist in included.
