This lithograph, which is hand printed and hand water-colored, is from Audubon's first octavo edition of The Quadrupeds of North America and is over 140 years old. John J Audubon was an American artist, naturalist, and ornithologist. The art shows excellent attention to detail and wonderful coloration. The lithograph is marked "No. 16" and "Plate LXXX" across the top. It is marked across the bottom, reading "Leconte's Pine Mouse - Drawn from Nature by J.J. Audubon FRSFLS. - On stone by W.E. Hitchcock - Lith. Printed & Col.d by J.T. Bowen Philad.a." This is an original lithograph, published between the years 1849 and 1854 by master printers.
