Catherine A. O'Dell. An attached museum tag reads, "1396-87 O'Dell". This was on display at the Charles Marrion Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana. Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) was an American photographer of Frontier and Native American life. Born in Winneshiek County, Iowa, he spent most of his life photographing the area around his Montana home. Huffman’s photography captured the spirit of the Old West and a changing way of life during the last two decades of the American frontier. Through portraits of the people, wildlife, landscapes, and industry of late 19th century Montana Territory, Huffman documented an authentic vision of the American West that few of his contemporaries equaled. In 1976, he was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. His works are held in public collections at the J. Paul Getty Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. A copy of the C.M. Russell Museum paperwork can be available at request.
