For your consideration is this original etching by Don Swann titled "Fort McHenry, Baltimore" Private Limited Edition, Christmas 1941. A delightful etching of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, it is most well known for its role in the War of 1812, when it successfully defended Baltimore Harbour from an attack by the British navy from the Chesapeake Bay on September 13 -14, 1814. Samuel Donovan Swann (1889-1954) was born in Florida in 1990 and studied in Rome and Munich before returning to America where he resided in Baltimore. Much of his work is in permanent collection of the U.S. Naval Museum, The Smithsonian and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This print is in good condition and is set in a sturdy wood frame. Signed to the lower right "Don Swann" in graphite and with a print number of 86/? (frame covers rest) inscribed to the lower left.
