For your bidding pleasure in this lot is an original photograph by Lee Silliman. Lee Silliman began the craft of photography in 1979, built his own darkroom in 1983, and began using a Wisner 8 x 10" Technical View Camera in 1989. Lee Silliman has become the Montana Anselm Adams, specializing in striking black and white photographs. The Christenot Mill was established in 1867 near the Oro Cache lode to crush the ore. The small settlement around it, Union City, is located eight miles southeast of Virginia City, Montana. This photograph is mounted on a white foam board and has the title on the board in the lower left corner and the artist’s signature and 1998 in the lower right corner of the board, as well as the photograph. The photograph measures 9 1/2" x 15" and the board measures 20" x 15”.
