For your consideration is an original Navajo acrylic on canvas by Tony Begay (1941-1973). Begay was proficient in all of the styles in which he painted. His brushwork is clean, his colors rich; in graphics he proved equally capable, whether handling pen and ink or charcoal. He was a graduate of the American School of Commercial Art in Dallas, Texas. Begay served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966, during which time he was commissioned to paint murals at the officer’s clubs at Camp Horno and Camp Pendleton, California. This piece shows a brightly colored Navajo painting showing a head shaped mask figured with dark hair, a blue triangle centered on a reddish orange color with white hour glass shaped outlines. Is it hand signed Tony Begay in the bottom left corner. It is framed in a custom wood frame by TEWA Phoenix, AZ. The visible art measures 8 3/4"x11 3/4" and the frame measures 12x15"
