Featured in this lot is this Original Olaf Wieghorst Signed Artist's Proof, Limited Edition 13/150, "Nomads of the Plains", framed; also included in the back is the original artist slip with two limited edition Olaf Wieghorst pieces on the slip. Hand signed in pencil on lower right corner. The original painting was completed in 1961. It embodies a quiet mystical nobility and sense the proud essence of these nomadic people.
Olaf Wieghorst (1899-1988) was a Danish-American painter who specialized in depictions of the American frontier. His art was in the vein of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. Although equine portraits dominate his oeuvre, Wieghorst also painted western landscapes and realist portraits of Native Americans and cowboys. In 1992, he was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
The overall condition of this triple-matted framed artist proof is very nice with no obvious signs of damage. Original portfolio sleeve included. The measurements of the visible artwork measures 20.5"W x 22.5"L, the frame is 31"W x 33"L. Combined weight is 12lb, 2oz.
