Featured in this lot is this "Cherry Pie" oil on canvas painting from artist Robert Wesley Amick, born 1879 and passed 1969. The painting features a wonderful scene of a farmhouse treat of cherry pie with three serving dishes, a serving bowl full of green and purple grapes, and a tea cup with wonderful shading that accentuates the scene, giving the painting a pop and life-like quality. Robert Wesley Amick worked as a lawyer for two years before devoting his life to a career in art. He was born in 1879 in Colorado in a log cabin and spent his formative years in cattle country. After his graduation from The Art Students League in New York City in 1909, he published illustrations in contemporary popular periodicals. However, his childhood influences soon began to dominate his artwork. Robert Wesley Amick's paintings and prints depict Western American themes and were reprinted and used in U.S. schools in the 1920s, cementing his artistic reputation. Eventually, he moved to Connecticut where he painted landscapes of the countryside. The condition of this framed oil on canvas painting is good and it shows no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this framed artwork are 23 1/2" x 27 1/2" and the visible art measures 15 1/2" x 19 1/2".
