Featured in this lot is this original framed painting by Montana artist Sheryl Bodily. Sheryl Bodily (1936) is originally from Boise, Idaho, but now resides in Columbia Falls, Montana. His enthusiastic interest in Native American people and their contemporary culture has continued to grow over the years and has had a tremendous influence on his art. Known for Indian scenes with children, old cabins, stage coaches, wagon trains and wildlife, his work is in many collections. Bodily has won countless awards and Best of Show, with his works being widely collectible. Bodily was awarded the Goody Indian Cultural Award at the National Art Show In the fall of 1970, an art auction was held through the Pacific Northwest Indian Center in Spokane, Washington where Sheryl Bodily sold paintings for twice their listed value. A few months later, the same thing was repeated at an auction in Great Falls and his art continues to beheld in high regard. In this untitled painting, it shows a band of Native Americans on horseback riding through the plains while the horses carry a travois. You can see the mountain ridge line in the background and a sky with scattered clouds above. The two Native Americans in the middle seem to be having a conversation as the one on the far right looks towards them. Three or four more Native Americans trail behind on horseback, with one carrying a child in a papoose. The painting is signed in the bottom left hand corner reading, "Bodily". The painting is set in a large rustic double wood frame that is in good condition. The painting is in good condition as well with no signs of damage present. The art measures 17 1/2" L x 23 1/2" W. The entire piece measures 25 1/4" L x 31 1/2" W.
