Included in this lot is an original, signed Carl Tolpo oil painting, “Grand Teton Range” from 1965. Carl Tolpo was born in Ludington, Michigan in 1901. During the course of his career, he established his reputation as a portrait, genre, and landscape painter, as well as a portrait and figure sculptor. As a painter, his works in fine oil portraiture particularly include state portraits and landscape oil paintings of the western USA, mostly the Yellowstone Park region. His works are on display in the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This 1965 Wyoming landscape painting by Carl Tolpo portrays the Grand Teton Mountain Range with sunlit glaciers and incoming storm at Teton National Park, Wyoming. This painting is signed by Tolpo in the bottom left corner, along with "Grand Teton Wyo. 9-7-65". This piece is in good condition for its age, with a small chip in the top right corner. It measures 18" by 15".
